The "E" brake cable will facing the wrong way if the cyl is on the top.
If you swap the left to the right the cable position on the backing plate
will be in the wrong place but may work. This whole swap would make bleeding much easier. Never tried it but maybe a good idea.

Swap the left and right, then turn it 180 degrees and the cables will fit correctly, with the wheel cylinder on the top and the cable on the bottom, and yes, bleeding is very easy this way. I found a reference in Progressive Refinements that indicates this switch was made at the factory about two months before the change in wheel cylinder and shoes were made signalling the 1958 model. |

Is it possible to swap sides on the front to put the cyl on the top for easier bleeding or are the holes wrong? Anybody do this? |
