Well, that was a trip. How did I miss that video a year ago?
Going around the Ring at speed in a bus. The visuals were familiar. The engine note and the velocity were beyond anything I have experienced in a bus. |

hi,
see a lot of modified suspensions here on thesamba.
was just playing around with some parts on my suspension and wanted to see weather this would be a good improvement or not.
test fitted the front suspension of a 944 under my splitscreen from '62 and added shocks from a mk1 golf in the shortest position. Seems to be fitting nicely and no big modifications needed.
the steering rack also fits nicely tilted forward offcourse
the shock tower can be positioned underneath the seat, the sheet metal was toasted anyway. The original frontbeam needs to be fully restored so if I invest the money then might change it to 944 all around. Have all the parts so thats a low starting investment.
If I create a subframe holding the shock tower that would do the trick
send me your thoughts

Haven't up dated my site for a while but did some suspension work and engine mods.
The front suspension was converted to a 935, adjustable control arms, adjustable spindle height, double adjustable nitrogen shocks, coil overs, and camber boxes. Still waiting for a 911 sway bar. I converted to a 911 steering box a few years back. Brakes are Wilwood 4 piston, 911 slot&vented rotors, 912 hubs. Wheels are 8x17 3 pc. BBS/Fuchs.
Sent the 7006 turbo out to be modified for better low/mid range power. The weight includes 140lb driver.

Since your using shocks off a fwd car you will probably need to get them re-valved, and may go to a softer coilover.
I would use a racing camber box for the top mounts which would make camber & caster adjustments easier. I would also mount them as high as possible to get good shock travel. |

Have you checked bump-steer using turn plates or bump-steer plates? Curious what you have. |

3027 lbs. without driver. The added weight comes from the modified '79 930 3.3 turbo motor, 915 trans and various other parts.
