This team has the heart of several lions! I have seldom seen such a dedicated group of young guys chasing after a dream, working their a$$es off, yet having the patience to listen to some of the more experienced guys that were helping guide progress.
It was a pleasure meeting the McAllister in person, watching them run, meeting Chip (who reminded me that his dad and I raced each other in the final at Vegas a few years ago).
On a side note, did that much more areodynamic and far superior Denzel powered Ghia ever go faster than a bone stock 36hp? :P Maybe team DDDDD will put that engine in a beetle for next year??? |

Yes indeed, the Richard did the job in spades, and that after a week from hell getting problems resolved with the transmission. Trial pass was in the seventies, a second run hit 97 and two later runs put him in the new "1" Club with Justin, Tom Bruch and Dick Beith. His fastest pass in the Denzel Ghia while experiencing oil leak problems was a very respectful 101 plus miles per hour. His 36hp Ghia record is now the target for all other Ghia racers.
Richard also credited Justin with some hands on help while he was trying to get all his passes in before the course shut down. Sounds like Justin has the true Bonneville spirit!
Will post the top speed results as soon as I hear from all the competitors who are now on their way home from Bonneville. Congradulations to all the 36hp and other VW racers (13 in all) at this year World of Speed.

Not only what jets for Richard but provided the roll bar for the Blackline/Birks new record holder. Yes, you also have the Bonneville spirit. Now, if we can just get you to get off the drag strip and try a little off roading, salt style.
Please get me your email address. I have been sending you tons of info and all of it is coming back. Need to keep the good guys (yes, you) in the loop.
