it's only the internet, who cares lol?! |

Mr. Electric Wizard wrote: So by tank you don't mean a tracked tank?
If you do, I remember seeing one a long time ago.
I think it was a split too.
seen a few vanagons with those too, now that would be sick i was jsut talking to the girl last weekend about doing that to a bay, we both agreed super rad! lol
but having a powerplant with enough tq to make the tracks useful might be alot of work, saying that you need massive tq to move snow @ steep ascent not happening from a t-1 lol |

If you're gonna hack, then HACK. |

| If you are serious screw the split reduction boxes and see if you can find a brazillian bay window rear end. It has the superior IRS(for offroading) with reduction boxes on the end of the trailing arms and u-joint axles instead of CVs. Would be a rock solid setup... There was a thread recently with a pic maybe I can find it later i'm leaving right now. |

My old 1960 High roof Panel had the "Alpine " gear set in it.......... it would crawl in first....... and climb like a bandit....... 8)
That being said......... i've not had a problem idling over rough terrain in my Bay......without riding the clutch ... .. because it's a "Hack Bus" .......
Have fun with your project.... no matter what anyone says....... Heck they can always buy it and save it....

Man. Very simple rule about your bus. It is your bus, and do as you please with it. For what it is worth I think it is a cool idea. |

And you seriously expect love hugs from all of the Bay people? Some of us have enough respect for Bays to save them and not to admittedly set out to destory them.
I'm just curious what you had in mind by reserving the blank posts? There is always enough posting space to go around for everyone. |

it was intened to hold spaces for pictures do to some forum not allowing more than one or two per post. i didnt know samba had a newer format. older forum would allow for you to reserve postings like that. |

| just to clarify i dont really plan on hacking the bus just not restoring it to factory is what i meant. its not that i didnt like the westy interior or exterior it just didnt come with it. so i need to make my own because id like to update a few things and do some stuff differently. as for the exterior and motor they are going to be non vw colors and far from factory parts or design styling. think big burly bus instead of flower power bus. |

Kinda thought that might have been the reason. But we never know what kind of new surprises there might be just around the corner. Yea, there is always enough space here for photos. At least there was some laughter while it lasted  . |

| There's plenty of crappy bay's out there that aren't resto candidates (like mine) so find one of those piles of crap and hack away. Mine will be no where near stock and probobly garner a few jeers from the bluebloods but-like they say-it's my bus. If your bus has true potential then pass it off to someone with nobler intentions. I've only gotten a few crappy pm's about mine because it was a special edition but it really doesn't matter if the pile of crap had one foot in the grave before I got to it. |

| After driving stock Buses on 4 wheel drive roads in Colorado, sand dunes and more in the Baja and countless snowy/icy/muddy/crappy roads I've always felt a stock Bus is like a tank. Unstoppable. |
