A very very nice bus!
Axel posted a picture series in his picasa webalbum. He forgot to mark these pictures as private. They're all in the same style as above and will be used in a upcoming number of the Volksworld.
I've got a few of those picture's but promised Axel to keep them for myself and offline!

Love this bus! Great job on the restore. The storage display shelves are the coolest thing I have ever seen!! Great taste. I know how hard it is to find the right pedicels for this year bus. It takes a lot of homework to find all the fine details to make this bus as true to it's original form. Great job!!! :D

Hi Axel,

nice barndoor but more important you cut your hair, good decision.. :D

Just kidding, great barndoor, it's really an awsome bus, I didn't notice that you put that much efforts in this car and achieved this great result.
Besides the bus himself I like the attention you paid to every detail inside of the bus, fantastic, I have to visit you in not too far future.
We were only talking inthe past about businees and of course the "Red one".
BTW, I installed a 30HP engine in the 49er I had in stock, I bought this engine with low milage (the seller told me) and so I could test the engine himself and if succesful I can drive the 49er.
Fortunately the engine I never tested before is running smoothly so I have to await better weather to go for a ride after nearly one year.

Cheers Marcus

I have a question about the nuts at the spare tire stood. My friend charlie send me three original used nuts to install the spare tire stood. The three nuts mounted in the inside of the bus. What do you think is the correct finish for this spezial nuts? I can´t see it really on the nuts charlie gave to me.....
Chrome, Nickel or black?

Hi Marcus,

happy new year! You are welcome! But note the bus is back in my garage in the end of february.
See you Axel

Axel, I checked mine and they have too much surface rust to be sure but i'd guess they must be plain steel. I haven't found any nuts to be black phospated on those era VW. They either would be Cadmium ( cadmiert, nicht glanzverzinkt) plated or plain steel. as the spare wheel well is painted black these would be assembled after painting or priming the body, so the nuts are not in grey primer.

These are the bolts off my 52, they look to be black originally

WOW! That bus is just gorgeous! The paint job is fantastic. Any ideas on how many hours the paint shop put in to do the body work/paint? I'm glad I didn't have to pay that bill. :D

..may seem a stupid Q., but which way round do they go?- nut or bolt in the engine bay? :?

djfordmanjack Tue Mar 16, 2010 3:17 am

bolts in engine bay, nuts in cargo area.
