Oh, really...i didn´t see the issue til yet. I will phone Ivan from volksworld to get some issues.
If you want some better pictures, you can bought them. I make a
special Edition with dimensions up to 130 cm x 90 cm, in a perfect finish. A friend of mine sold them in his internetshop as a limited edition.

..may seem a stupid Q., but which way round do they go?- nut or bolt in the engine bay? :?
Would there have been a washer btween the nut & the firewall? :?
Also, would there have been any kind of rubber seal/grommet between the tray opening & the drainage tube at the back?..thanks |

congratulations on the very detailed and nicely printed article in the new Käfer Revue ! this bus deserves it !
The article states the color for the chassis as Ral 7039 quartzgrau.
Is this what you used and the actual color for the kasten ?
Just asking because I'm looking for primer for my 54 project, so want to come as close as possible to the original color.I have not a bit of grey left on the undercarriage, mine's brown all over
thanx in advance. |

I remember going into the Town hall at H. O. for the dinner that evening and suddenly discovering this awesome Barndoor Panel on display. The shelving and NOS parts box display was tasteful and impressive. I know people say it all the time, but I think that for at least a second or two, that I was actually breathless while starring at it. Absolutely AWESOME restoration. It really made my night at HO. Rick Spohn and I look dumbfounded in those pictures that "RockStock" posted back on page 1 checking out the Bus. Way to go Axel!

This 50 panel turned out real nice 8)
My only question is during the build did you plan on fitting seats in the cargo area?
I only ask as I have a late barndoor panel and want to fit a rear and 6 leg middle seat.
The floor in my panel will need a little tweaking to allow the fitting of seats. |

SW is SchluesselWeite - wrench width
this used to be a common size, not anymore, now usually 13mm |

exactly ! I am not aware if somebody is reproducing them. you will not be able just to buy stock bolts, the will all have the 13mm wrench width on the hexagon. German factories stopped using 14mm around 1960-1965.
you will not find stock closed 14mm nuts either. they will have to be billet machined. |

14mm so same as pre58/oval beetle wing bolts? Bonnet bolts? Even floorpan bolts? Etc.
Cut them down?

Can someone confirm what make the original barndoor bolts are?
Kamax? Knipping? |

I have seen both brands on BDs (not confirming they were original).
the bolts will be the easier part of it. sourcing the closed 14mm nuts is the hard thing. I am keeping just every 14mm bolt or nut I remove from donor vehicles/parts for future resto projects. Most people simply bin the old surface rusted hardware, I've even seen professional resto shops use Allen head bolts all over detailed restos  |
