We had a few 25hp crank pulleys laying around that were bent and distorted. I needed to find at least one that I could use on my August 1949 engine rebuild so it was time to figure out how to get at least one straight and round again. We had good success on one so we have done a couple of others.

Here are some before and after pictures of one of the worse ones.











After some straightening work, the same pulley now looks like this:

Looking good, I have a couple of warped 25 Hp pulleys and am interested in how you managed to get yours straight, did you use a press or similar ? any chance you could run through the process.

It's a combination of 35 years of experience doing metal work and auto/truck/semi tire/wheel balancing and trueing.

We took the principles used to straighten a wheel and machined a mini version of the equipment.

It's tedious work, even the "nice" ones seem to be bent or have some type of runout or wobble. Make the mistake of dropping one, and the lip is so thin on the 25hp variety they nearly always bend. You cannot really see the wobble until it is mounted and the engine is turning at a low RPM.

Who knows, maybe they were iffy from the factory. :roll:

We have done a few for other people since they are so hard to find in good condition. IM me for further details and cost.

I am sure they were. If they weren't they would have kept making them like that.
