Afternoon,
I have a '74 (i think) Beetle VIN 1142390029, with an engine with an AE serial number.
Looking at the tech page here on the site, am I correct that mine is definitely a 1974 Beetle?

Yep.
Built in November 1973, which is in the 1974 model year.
Appears to have an older AE engine, maybe '70-'72?
