I am currently looking to see how many people would like to start a club up here in sac/elk grove. I have two people down to start a club. We have a club name picked out and im just posting this to get a feel of how many people are interested.

I am thinking of not having annual fees. just a one time fee for a sticker and t shirt. monthly cruises are a must, helping a club member in need a must, monthly club meetings at IN-n-out :), three car shows a year is really looked upon.

just some of the things. looking for just air cooled, but if the club doesnt get big enough we will be looking for water cooled, cause they are bad ass too.

Send me a pm, if interested. thanks

Kurt

So you want to start another VW club in Sacramento? What you are describing sounds like the sacwater club but for aircooled. What is the name of your club?

No offense, but with a name like that save your money and time.

You might as well call it club shitbox.

damn, thought people might be a little more into the idea of having a club, getting together, havin a good time, goin to show,

instead of worrying about the fuckin name. thanks though.

Maybe you can pick up a few shitbox drivers at the STD's Shows?

You should just support the STD's for now!

there are already too many vw clubs in sacramento.

You know what kk5150, start your club and call it whatever you want. Don't let anyone else get you down. I think it is a good idea.

There are other VW clubs around the Sacramento area, but there is room for another one. Maybe your club could hook up with some of the other clubs and have a cruise out.
Good luck.

Rich

That was my point... I say start the club but with a better name. Make it big and better than anything else.

I will be moving up to Sac area in march and was wondering what the scene looks like up there. I live in Socal right now and there are plenty of clubs but mostly a bunch of posers. I started a mechanics club down here to weed out the wannabees and it seemed to work well.

For our club there were no dues, no mandatory meets only one rule. YOU HAVE TO WORK ON YOUR OWN CAR!!! Even if you were not a mechanic already if you want to learn how to get your knuckles bloody you could come and hang. You only got a club shirt if you could build your own engine and it lasted a decent amount of time/miles (race or street).

We do everything to our cars with the exception of building our own transmissions. Paint, body, electrical, interior, engines, suspensions, brakes, etc, etc.

The only way to get into the club was to show up to one of the meets, and have a member sponsor you and be voted in by the existing members. The sponsor would be your primary "helper" to learn how to do stuff but anyone could help if they wanted. We meet twice a month in different parts of the county and try to make it to pomona a few times a year, the classic, a few octo meets, BOR, the bakersfield show and the best of them all the Vegas BOR!!! 4-5 days of booze, chicks, bugs and gambling!!! We race at drag day so all the posturing is put to rest with an actual time slip!!

Is there anything even close to what I describe in Sac area??

I'd like to join the club except my car isn't done yet, I mean its like at least 2 years from completion and I don't like the name, nobody likes bondo? Give it a different name, other than that it sounds cool. Its definately what I want to do after my car is done

I do not know of any VW clubs in the Sacramento area that are like the one you described. Most of the clubs I have been in over the years, do help each other and try there best to teach other club members how to work on their cars.
There is a VW gathering that is called NAG. http://www.norcalaircooledgroup.org
In the Sacramento area, they meet at a K-Mart very close to Hwy 50 and Sunrise Blvd on the second Sat of every month at approx 6 pm. It is very cool and laid back, just a bunch of VW people that hang out in a parking lot for an hour and then cruise off to have a meal. There are a few different VW clubs that show up and just talk VW.
I hope this helps you.

Are there any clubs in ELk Grove? I think Bondo in the flesh of the devil... There is no Bondo on my car... only dents...
I'd be down to hang out and I can think of a few of my T3 brethren that might be game also. So long as it's fueled by beer and BS everyone has a good time.
