Thank you for this pics.
America Roadster Series 1
Interesting the position of oil flter. Not vertical ??? !!!
No black paint on inner alu structure.
Is it known, which car exactly it is?
Engine 1500 or 1500 S ? (Emblem looks "Super")
Not sure about the type of air filters.
Who knows better and more?

Surprising that the America is so new in these photos, yet its rear window is already so "cloudy" from UV exposure...

Car in photo is chassis number 12362, K8/14, built December 23, 1952. That is the secound owner in the photo, and the AR was his daily driver.

Air filters are the typical Knecht.

Engine: 1500 S

Colour: Light Radium Green

After years of neglect, the roadster received a full restoration in the mid 1980s.

Schuyler Rd in Beverly Hills, CA:

I went along the street view but didn't see that House.
I probably missed it though or missed going part of the street
Or it's redone now

the 356 of wendell fletcher fitted with his 'jet cooling' system which used exhaust gasses in a venturi to draw cooling air over the cylinders

Heavily edited after further review...

Photo dates from 1958. Not sure of the dealership though--somewhere in Connecticut (the striped "Stay in Line" sign in the road is a typical CT road construction sign from the 1950s-60s).

Interesting to note the VW and Mercedes-Benz dealerships in this photo were across the street from one-another.
Did anyone ever determine where this photo was taken? I have looked and looked and not found anything.

Any ideas on the reasons for the decoration?

In this photo you can see 2 "participant's #" labels on the passenger side of windshield. The round item could be a Helphos inner spotlight. The hood has a wide "belt" with many emblems. Such emblems could be enameled ones from road rallies or gatherings, a common and colorful practice in the 1950's. So these guys might've been high-placed or overall winners of a recent major rally, and kept the large fronds for their parade. The center one could be from an agave, per a possible Mediterranean area. Clump of fruit (warm region-grown oranges?) as a local souvenir?
- Knock-off spinner on the stock hubcap?! :?
- Do very early 356 windshield wipers sweep towards each other? (edit: surprisingly, yes; per photos farther up on this page)
- "Rosentor" (rose gate) drug store could be in the German city Goslar, a bit south of Braunschweig (Brunswick) in the state of Lower Saxony.

I assume, there was rather a (national) Porsche club meeting, not a race in the 50´s (before mid 1956, only old black plates, mid 1958 no more german black plates) and the most oldest 356 participant car was decorated or that car was a participant of the Meran meeting. Probably the original divided windscreen was replaced with the newer bent screen, but without trim. Also some individual upgrades on car. "Rosentor" points to city Goslar, the agave decoration can have something to do with the first international Porsche meeting 14. to 15. of May 1955 in Meran. Maybe the two participant labels are for registration in german division and international participant in Meran meeting. In old Christophorus magazins probably, there could be more info.
