I've had a MK1 GTI, a MK2 Golf 4 door ("stance" car) and a built N/A VR6 MK2 Jetta Coupe. I'm no VW noob, but these Air cooleds have me caught up!
It's a 73 Squareback, rear floor boards are done, rockers need replacing, and it has typical body rust and front end damage. Tonight I hopped in it and crept over a speed bump and the passenger front side decided it wanted to stay down and not rebound. Now the car is on the bump stop on that side and I have no idea how to fix that. I do want to lower the car but not like this! Can anyone give me a little help here?
And here is the ride:
This is how it sits now:

Welcome to site and your first aircooled. Looks like a fun project to get a start with. Your going to need that fan belt cover.
Not sure whats going on with the suspension. Torsion bar seized up? |

I took the pass side wheel off and the top bolt going parallel into the beam had broke loose, the one with a cover on it. I tightened it back up because I know it has something to do with the ride height i think...? maybe lol.
I have the cartoonish book for aircooleds, I forget the name, but my buddy gave it to me. It's gathering dust as we are expecting out first child. |
