I have a 73 square and want to put wide-5 brm's on it. Obviously I will need adapters or redrill the drums/disks. what sort of offset do I need. Do they need to be spaced out or set in more. The car will be lowered about 2"or 3". And how wide can I go.

for the front theres a tech post in the t3 forum about modifying your spindles to use the 66-67 t1 bolt on disc brake kit. gives you the 5x205 pattern and the use of it also narrows the front track about an inch per side which will be helpful since BRMs have an offset suited for the t1 NOT t3. i beleive russ at oldspeed is also finishing up a dropped spindle disc brake in 5x205 for type3s. for the rear you would either need to convert to early t3 drums or i think bus drums can be modified to work to. or you can convert to t1 rears in the 5x205 pattern. since type1 are thinner brakes you will loose a small amount of braking. the 66-67 disc i mentioned first supposedly are an equal amount better than stock t3 disc so take that as you will. converting to t1 rears will also narrow your track width about 1" per side which will give you more room for the offset of the BRMs...ken....
