Get rid of that Weber Progressive.

What heads? You can't put bigger carbs and exhaust if the heads are not up to it.

I got a whooping 6,000 miles out of my GEX 2.0 liter in my 82 Westphalia.
I was too busy to rebuild the motor so I bought a long block from these crooks. I'm a retired industrial maintenance tech. When I tore the motor down, I was appalled. Working on cars for 51 years (former ASE master tech) hadn't prepared me for what I found. The company rep Larry is a total liar. They wouldn't compensate one nickle. Bad mouth them every way you can think of. Rebuild the motor yourself using a local machine shop for machining work.

The GEX came with dual webers, I believe 40mm and IDF. Can these be put on a stock longblock? I'm trying to take everything off this engine that I can (the new stuff).

Yes ... with 28mm venturis, disassembled, cleaned, floats set, correct fuel pressure ... they can work just fine on a stock engine. Might want to talk to Glenn about an ignition upgrade 8)

Even a stopped clock is right twice a day.
