NICE !!! and yes, I saw this before. her's another one from a Samba member:
... he posted it in his Gallery, and said it was a PETRI wheel for pre-55 VW's and 356's. I contacted him in october 2007, to ask where the typical PETRI logo was located. then, 3 1/2 weeks later, he wrote me this single line:
"dear sir yes it is petri I got it from **** I have seen it in a petri cat. it's a proto type very rare. "
Then I send him this: "hello and thanks for the answer... have you got that catalogue too?? I would really like to see the steering wheel in a brochure or catalogue, to see how it was discribed, and which cars it could fit!!"
...he NEVER mailed me back, so...
...so, NO Petri sign? or not a Petri?? ...still don't know the answer. |

So...? did they all PM you, or no-one knows this type of steering-wheel? here's another one, that makes a total of 3 known now...
PS: sure would look great in a BD Deluxe, I only hope your dash looks better then this one :D a bit too much 'patina', no?? |

Rockstock, ...everyone's taste is different, I liked it... but it's the same discussion as alloys... not everyone wants the same 'earlies' : Fuchs or Sprintstars or whatever under their slammed busses or beetles... even if they look GREAT... I ALSO like them, they ARE great, but some people want something DIFFERENT... so NOT always the same Petri Banjo or Flat 4 repro steering wheels... I know a few more wheels that would look great on your steering colom, some Banjo style, and a few others, but not everyone WANTS them because it's 'not done' in the VW scene... well, I think if people wants to do something DIFFERENT, it's their choice, and in MY opinion, BETTER then (again) 100 repro wheels in a row on the swapmeets :D |

I handnt had any pm or anything no.
I did manage to track one down in south Africa that was sold to a guy in Norway. Managed to find a contact for him to but so far no reply.
There is definantly two types. Early splined and latter not. Found more splined ones.
If I can't find a resonable one to buy (or any splined for sale :-s) I'll have a go at getting a replica made. Don't think it would cost 4500. :-) |
