dont judge before you see it lowered... comon! just cause im not going to look like everyone else.. really??? Had the car for 15pluss years and its time for change!!! By the way.. i have lost of watercooled and lots of time spent with watercooled.. This look was inspired by american hotrod style.. real rear wheel drive cars... open your minds kids...

That wheel/tire combo looks like a safety issue to me...

thats a nice combo, the rear tire needs to be a wider though so the porta
walls dont stick out. i would've widened the front too an inch or so, i also
would've put a little more meat up front. but the car looks great. its
awesome you got back into it and another sweet bug will be one the road.
i want to widen my bus 14in rims in the rear to 6.5 in also.

Yeah i kinda guessed with tire sizes and now that i see them i might swap to larger tires at least on fronts.. Widening the rear wasnt exactly easy so doing fronts will be a new jig etc. Anyway, i had to push it outside today so my pop's could use the bay for a day or 2 so i snapped some pics.. still need to lower rear etc but you get an idea of what im going for. :) Porta walls will be stuck down to tires when im done also...

Not really trying to rip into ya man but im pretty sure that my wheel tire combo will work just fine as far as safety goes :) Cheers! hope everyone had a happy St. Pattys day!

thanks! the jig i made was to do what i wanted quick. I made it to only make 8" wide with stock backspacing on wide 5 vw wheels. I can change a few things to make a few other offsets and widths but i really need to re design my idea so it can work for any combo of any lug pattern...

Bigger tire and a hair lower to fill the fender wells. Red lines look cool.

Today's progress. After struggleing to replace the starter bushing i decided to do this for better access...

All so i could get to this and change it...

And because i bought this today because i just want the darn thing to start and run again!

Engine is back in but the brand new battery was on the shelf for a while so i need to charge it back up! :0

so its starting and running now and its got some odd issues. The intake manny is "ICING UP" right under the carb. I litterally mean ICE! I can scrape snow off with my fingernail. The car will idle while choked but as soon as the choke starts to kick down it slowly idles down and stalls. It wont rev and has almost zero power... anyone know whats up?

You can run a wire all the way through the preheat tube on the manifold too? The only thing that will cause icing on a stock engine is the preheat being plugged or the stock air cleaner missing its warm air hose/system.

yeah, it goes all the way through.. even changed the intake manny with another that i could also run wire through and it did the same thing! By preheat to the air cleaner you mean the smaller cardboard tube that goes from muffler to intake of breather?
