Awesome campout as usual!
I had a blast with your group this year. Thanks for everything.
Both trips to and from AZ went easy. Made it home yesterday around 4:40pm with an hours or so of day light to spare. |

| Another great BBB. It was my second time attending, first time with my own bus. Great to see so many familiar faces, and meeting new ones. Got home at exactly 9pm last night with no problems, and no traffic. The nice cool fog that i hit on 58 near bakersfield was a godsend. my bus couldnt have been happier. Thanks to LBB and associated hands who made the event happen. I'll be back again next year! |

| Had a great time at BBB again as usual. Thanks so much to all of those involved, especially the LBB. I missed some of the show Saturday while I installed a rear trailing arm on the 70 Westy I bought from John Howard but that was the only time I got my hands dirty. About 10 hours drive home towing at 58 mph. I'll be back soon to have Matt and Ronnie help me with my Bonneville Ghia race engine. |

This was my first trip to Buses by the Bridge. AAA+++
It was an absolutely a great event and should be on everyone's list. Thanks to the London Bridge Bullies for putting on the campout.
Thanks to Eric (Firecrusader) we were adopted by the SV2's and they made me feel right at home. Another great surprise was when "doubleugly" won an award for top twenty. I was really bumbed I missed the announcement but WALTER was playing near our camp I am half deaf anyways! We had a spectacular campfire and I got to trade some trade secrets with pyroman.
Here's doubleugly on the way home.

Wow did I pick the right show for my first VW event ever! Met so many cool people, and got to caravan up with the Dinosaur crew, that was me in the mustard Bay, BAY PRIDE!!!!!
Decided to hit Mojave back country on the way home, and was thoroughly impressed with the buses ability to off-road, had an amazing camp-out in the middle of nowhere (love them desert stars, and an almost full moon was cool too).
Coming out on essex road shifting into 4th... high pitched whine and RPM's just rev high, 1st 2nd and 3rd are fine, reverse is good, but no 4th (most likely spun syncro?). As luck would have it route 66 was right there, so I just cruised home in 3rd at about 45 with no other issues, was a long drive but beautiful. Will crack trans this week and report, hoping for the best!
Thank you all again for being so welcoming to a new comer, I look forward to the next BBB and hope to see some of you at other events soon! |

You guys going that way or the 10?
I was thinking the 10 and then the 62 just because I like the drive but I'm open to suggestions and willing to go any route. I would like to drive up with more than just me though.
That 62 route looks like a fun one. Maybe next year we can leave earlier and try it out.
Yeah check it out someday. A lot of it has been re-paved and the climbs are nice and gradual. Watch out with heavy rain there can be flooded parts. Some may say it's boring but I like it because it's mostly deserted desert road. Especially at night when it's pitch black and you're driving in a bubble of your headlights occasionally catching a desert mouse sprinting across the road surrounded by dark contours of mountains against nothing but some moonlight. Mix in a little pink floyd ( or whatever floats your boat ) and you don't even wanna get to any destination.
whichever way you go have a good 'trip' and see ya lakeside
I like 62 too. On my way to BBB in 2004.
Zoom out to see where this picture was taken.

We did take our time to drive the 62 out to the event and it was enjoyable!
But what is the story of the corner fence (near the burned out beef jerky hut) with all the shoes tied to it? Anyone know? I was going to stop but the lady friend was sleeping and I didn't want to wake her up by slamming on the brakes.
Sales was way down but we enjoyed the event! |

Thanks for a terrific weekend London Bridge Bullies! As always, top notch!
Thanks also to DraginInk for printing kids shirts this year. Emma and Ian were thrilled to get shirts again from their favorite bus show!
Also, thank you to Walter's handlers for being such wonderful camping neighbors! You were courteous and gracious and we really appreciated all the time and effort you guys put into entertaining all the kiddos. Expecially the ride over the bridge...I think that was their highlight!
We really enjoyed seeing so many friends, reconnecting with some we haven't seen in years and making new ones.
Got into Houston at 5am this morning safe and sound after a brief stopover in Tucson...after which, by chance, we met Lemorris. More new friends! :D
How long till BBB XVI? |

I don't know where that is, but it may be a response to this being burned down in 2005. The picture below was taken on the 62 a couple of mile East of in Rice, California.

Thanks everyone for coming to Lake Havasu . For those who like to count...
the numbers of REGISTERED ( filled out and turned in) busses is...
280 registration forms handed out at the gate. (paid campers)
105 splits
68 bays
44 vanagons
5 euros
39 that did not register :(
and others that were not busses. This doesn't account for the LBB club members that had busses there and the day use folks that brought a bus but didn't camp, Hotel I guess. |

On the way home, the Vegas carabus (or one of them!) stopped just before the Dam/AZ/NV stateline for some folks from Utah who were pulled over after an oil like broke/separated/burned through.
Utah guys --- make it home OK? Hope so.
Nothing better than seeing a dozen splits pulled over to see what the issues are.
Passers-by must have been wondering which bus was the one with the problem! |
