I have a 1963 ragtop and the wife and I are talking (AKA fighting  ) about the color for the restoration. Someone painted it cream, but the tech data and the color under the poop respray is turquoise. It's more green than blue, but sure enough, the color is spot on with the details in the tech section. If anyone has a turquoise bug, please feel free to add to this post so that I can show the "trouble-and-strife".
Cheers! |

This is a 61 ragtop I was considering buying last year. It's a re-spray, but the owner did his best to match the original turquoise.

Turquoise is one of the all-time great VW colors.
If I had an original I wouldn't even't think about changing, not for a second. |

i also own a 63 ragtop and the color issue has been "discussed" at our house too. The original color is anthricite grey, which I like, BUT my wife things to nazi looking for a fun car. I Like VW mars red. There is also a turquoise ford color on the newer T Bird that I like.

I think this is Turquoise. 1963 Ragtop. I used to drive by this car all the time, and wanted it soo bad. But I could never afford it. This was back in 2001, they wanted $3500 for it I think.

Mine's a Krylon green but it kinda resembles Turkis, does that count?
I think Beetles look great in funky green colors. |

Mine:
The REAL question is: Are these cars "Green" or "Blue"?
It drives me crazy when people talk about my "Blue" VW... It's obviously "Green", right? Has anyone else had this happen? |

When I first got my turquoise beetle and registered it at the DMV they didn't want to put down turquoise on the registration and I waffled back and forth between green and blue before I finally put down blue. But turquoise is neither. |

The VW Turquoise color is a green, which is different than what is considered Turquoise in the "real" world.
Mixture:
http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?p=145279#145279
78.0 parts 1051 weiB (White)
14.2 parts 1069 dunkelgrun (Dark Green)
05.8 parts 1052 schwarz (Black)
02.0 parts 1053 ocker (Ocher pigment)
No blue. :) |

In my defense, I am slightly color-blind, but I stand corrected. :D |

that color is beautiful, but unfortunately it would look stupid on my 73 for some reason.
Why is it that early colors look so out of place on fat chicks? strange. |
