Never seen that. How to we compare this with the 22 mile 64 bug where it shows the white two wire holders and the gas line unclamped?

I have seen a fuel line clip on the left side of the fan shroud. Not sure the years for it but @BarryL states it is from a 67 on the image tag.

Also our AUG1972 beetle parts manual and what looks like same manual on the OADP website thru the "Upcoming" button at the top of that shows the same bracket used for 40HP, 1300/1500/1600 SP, and the later non-rebuildable fuel pumps of the early1970s.

Personally would be leery of having steel fuel line right next to high voltage spark plug cables that might short out to the line and perhaps even eat thru like an EDM machine.

Here is the beetle parts manual showing the non-rebuildable fuel pump (#3) used thru MAR1972 with the side of shroud bracket.

Our early bay window bus manual shows same fuel line bracket as above and non-rebuildable fuel pump. Print date on the page is 2/68

I always thought the three position plug wire holder ( one per engine) held the coil to distributor cap cable not as a fuel line holder but apparently it does fit.

So we'll leave that part as 'possibly needed' for fuel line, but perhaps more likely coil wire.

I would not trust Wolfsburg West as gospel when it comes to original parts listings. Their page on distributors, for example, is fraught with errors and inaccuracies. I’ve offered to help correct them but have never been offered the chance. They are a great company by the way, and I am one of their longest and better customers.

I think some of the discrepancies are from things that were NLA, but some other part FIT even if not 'correct,' and that available part got stuck in a bigger date or model range. I think we've all been bitten by the 'I ordered the correct part from catalog' and it wasn't at some time or another.

While talking with Bill Fowler about my VW3-stamped fuel pump, he mentioned he had never repaired a pump with that stamp on the upper flange, as depicted in the manual - just stamped on the lower body. Since the stamps were done to differntiate an item with updated parts, I wondered if mechanics might have swapped cone-topped VW3 flanges with the later square-tops during gasket repair or some such. No stamp on those since you didn't need to tell which top had the new parts as on cone-tops obviously. I'll see if Bill is bored enough to look at square-tops in his stash and see if the date codes indicate early bodies with later tops.

I suppose having the coil cable held securely in place and separated from the plug wires would be an advantage. On the other hand, on earlier 36 hp engines the plug wires were smooshed together and run through a metal tube!

Would it even reach?

It would have to be significantly longer to get there and back.

I think it was a later Bay maybe '71 update. The guy that taught me about it was parts manager at a VW dealership. Bottom row second in Rudy.
He had the preformed fuel pipes for dome top and hose connect fuel pumps. He said it held the pipe steadier on the hose connect pumps. It all fits without any bending if you use VW pipe and clip.
