A/C, cruise, tilt, AWD and you can be sure you're going to get there and back. Love it.
Mount it on this bitch and I'll roll it all day long.

It does not matter what size wheels you put on or if you paint plastic the same color as the metal, those things are ugly! |

No doubt. It's like a VW Thing, you know it's ugly, but it can still be cool. Buses are ugly, but everybody and their brother wants one right now. A 56-57 beetle is one of the most beautiful cars ever built, but they ain't worth spit compared to a bus. The way the shape of the tailights match the decklid light and just the whole ass end...it's beautiful, but nobody cares...
Beauty has nothing to do with being cool.
I cleaned an Element up after being trashed by a former friend. His wife is my wife's best friend. Him and his wife got divorced (long after I stopped hanging out with him) and he had to "relinquish" the vehicle. I took it and cleaned it up for her to sell. I had it for a week or so and really enjoyed driving it. He was not happy when he saw it at my work. |

They do drive nice but the AWD ones get terrible mileage for some reason.
The interior design is clever and they are very spacious.
However the doors are fucked up and totally unsuitable for a family. |

My daily driver is an Element. It's not a bad car/truck/SUV (I've had it for 4 years and still don't know what to call it). I bought it after dealing with less than reliable Fords and Volvos for many years.
The good: Pretty much bulletproof drivetrain and solid Honda pits and pieces; flexible seating/cargo space - can hold a ton of stuff including many 2x4's or sheets of plywood; actually pretty fun to drive with the manual tranny; drives excellent in the snow;
The not so good: The passenger doors are a pain in the ass in a parking lot; gas mileage isn't great; Looks - my friend calls it the Korean Tourist Mobile, co-workers call it the Big Toaster; |

Agree 100%. We had one for about a year. Drove nice, good mileage, tons of usable space inside, great utility. Trying to get children into the back seat when another car was parked beside you was absolutely ridiculous. This is the sole reason why we got rid of it. |

If all four wheels are being powered at all times it makes sense to me that the mileage will suffer. That's a lot of drag on the drivetrain. |

I know there are a few people with that conversion over on the element owners club website. I've never seen one up close, but I'd like to. Looks interesting. I've never had a problem sleeping 2 people in a regular element, but I guess it'd be nice if for no other reason than to be able to stand up in it if its raining or something.
Mine on a towing mission (didn't actually tow the trailer and bus, just used to flat tow the bus around the narrow streets of Philly):

I don't car much for things either. Dudes who are just to macho for normal vw's think they are somehow more manly. Give me a beetle convertible any day. |
