I'm wondering if anyone who has relaminated their cabinets can tell me how many 4X8 sheets I will need to do all of the cabinets and the closet in a 76 Westy. I do not need to include the wall, hatch or door panels in this estimate.

I searched unsuccessfully for the answer.

I'd like to know the same thing actually, except including the wall, hatch, and door panels. That laminate is not cheap...

I have not done a re-lam on these parts, but I have owned a cabinet laminating shop for many years. Here is a link to a free cut list program. Just put in the size pieces you need, remember to go at least 1" bigger than actual panel. Then put in the 4 x 8 material. The program will then make a diagram showing you how to maximize material yield. Once the program gives you the diagram, make sure all pieces have the grain running the direction you want them to be. If any are wrong, you can go back and edit the pieces and then get a new layout.

I am of no help with the cabinets, but 1 4x8' sheet did my rear hatch panel, the driver side wall, the sliding door panel, dash table, and I've got some pieces left over.

If you're going woodgrain you need to use more than you'd expect because you want the grain running vertically not horizontally and not a combination of the two. I needed three sheets to do my complete interior but I did screw up a few pieces. This included making pieces for the sliding door, rear hatch, wall next to the stove cabinet and the inside of the opening stove cabinet lid. I'd guess that you could get away with 2 sheets if you don't do the wall and sliding door panels.

From there you can figure yields out quite easily

the laminate isn't to expensive if you know someone in the industry! about 40 a sheet, so for about 120 you can have all new interior panels!

i just relaminated my 69. used 1 4x12 for cabinets and 1 4x8 for sink top and table

I haven't done it yet, but below is how I think I can get all the wood grain pieces for my '71 out of a single 5' x 12' sheet. I realize yours is a different year and a different layout, but perhaps it will help. I bought Wilsonart laminate at home depot, 5' x 12' for $144. Of course you will need a second piece of something else to do tables/countertops.

I finally started the prep work for laminating the interior.

All of the old laminate has been removed. Gaps and cracks have been filled with wood filler. A few mores passes with the belt sander and finishing sander and I should be ready to begin cutting and applying the laminate.

I purchased three 4X8 panels of a laminate product by Nevamar in Blossom Cherry (Hi Luster). The product code is WC5681N.

I'll update this thread with my progress.

A lot of print shops have large form laminators. maybe you could go through arms first ;)

I am interested to see how (re) laminating works.

What is the laminating stuff?

On an aside, a while back I bought a flat pack tallboy. the packing material was the paper stuff for the woodgrain laminated option. I never knew it was done like that!

Awesome program. I'm finished with my interior but sure could have used it. Not just for all the wood panels but for the vinyl for all the upholstery and the fabric for the curtains.

Okay, it's been about two months and I'm nearly finished. Here ya go!

I still have to install the sink, plumbing etc.. and then I'll post pics of that last cabinet.

Winter will bring work on the engine compartment, gas tank, and engine rebuild.

Sweetness! I love people who pay attention to detail. Nice work indeed. How close is that to the OEM color, and is that what you were going for? Either way, looks great. Keep up the good work.
