I have an oil leak that appears when the Westy is on an incline with the engine in a downward position. The leak is from the driver's side that seems to be leaking from above the oil cooler and down. The leak is running across the engine support. I am wondering if it is the oil pressure switch? any help would be appreciated.

Clean everything as best you can. With the engine cool, shoot some brake cleaner where you suspect the leak is coming from and along the path of the drip. Wipe everything as clean as you can. Let the brake cleaner thoroughly evaporate because it can be damn flammable. Top off your oil and go for a short drive or even just let it sit in the driveway and idle until it gets good and hot. Turn the engine off and have a look. It will be easier to trace the source of the leak with the scene of the crime cleaned up a little.

If you're sure its coming from the cooler, I'd be willing to bet the oil cooler seal has split. Every winter TheSamba sees a rash of complaints about coolers leaking oil. If you have an older 2.1L engine, your oil cooler has a seal that gives it up in really cold weather.

The seal is cheap but it's kind of a pill to replace.
