I am putting together a Wheel off set article and I wanted to see if I can collaborate with all of you to bring this together. The specs that are needed are
1. Wheel Style (Empi 5 Spoke, Sprint Star, Fuchs, etc)
2. Diameter and Width (15x4, 15x5.5, 15x6, 15x7, 16x6,etc)
3 Bolt Pattern (4x130mm, 5x130mm, 5x205mm, etc)
4. Back Spacing (from the back of the wheel to the outer edge)
Here is a list of wheels that I am aware of but the list is not limited too;
5 Lug Smoothie - Check
5 Lug 356 Wheel
5 Lug Crows Foot
5 Lug Chromie
5 Lug Empi 5 Spoke - Check
5 Lug Wide 5 Fuch
5 Lug Sprint Star
5 Lug BRM 4"
5 Lug BRM 5.5" - Check
5 Lug Centerline 3.5"
5 Lug Centerline 5.5"
5 Lug Centerline 7"
5 Lug Escra
5 Lug Randar
5 Lug Rader
Porsche Fuch
Porsche Twist
Porsche Cup
Porsche Cup 2
Porsche Cosmic
4 lug Slot
4 lug Chromie
4 Lug Empi 8 Spoke
4 Lug BRM
4 Lug Iron Cross
4 Lug Porsche 2.0
If we can get measurement in inches that would be ideal but MM can be changed over. Thanks in advance for you help. This list could be very helpful to a lot of people.
Here is an example
Smoothie
15x4
5x205mm
2.00" back spacing
Empi 5 Spoke
15x5.50
5x205mm
2.75" back spacing
BRM
15x5.5
5x205mm
2.75" back spacing |

I'm having a hard time understanding how this offset relates to this backspacing.
Isn't offset how far the disk of the wheel is from center of drum of the wheel?
By my thinking, a 7.5 inch wheel w/52mm (2") equals a 5.75 backspace.
Please correct me if I'm wrong. |

This VW wheel+offset supplement below is worth making a copy of to know your VW wheels. offset=ET Most VW wheels have ET41 etc stamped on the humps between the lugbolts if you wire wheel off the paint.

Did this wheel offset article ever come out?
Is sounded like a good idea, as long as the information is correct.
... one good link here on the samba, in the technical section, maybe a sticky here in the Custom Wheel/Tire?...
Each wheel can be posted in a list, a wheels info will not be published until confirmed by two different sources of the same rim.
(Or just post info and let it slowly be corrected.)
And be specific, as in...
I have "EMPI 5 spokes".
Are they OG EMPI(two piece)?
Are they American Eagle Style EMPI?
Are they the newer style EMPI?
Ect... specifics!
I believe it would be very useful info and wouldn't be that hard to do... (or maybe it is, cause this thread went nowhere) :( |

This looks like the perfect place to ask.
If I was using your BAD Series disk brake kit on a 1966 split, which stock VW wheel is recommended?
Thanks,
