Got mine in the mail the other day from Joe Comfort, great deal better than original IMO.
Too bad I sold my bag before I took measurements, I remember I was so broke then I really needed the cash :cry: I don't recall who I sold it to but if you're reading this can you please PM me regarding the size of that bag. or anyone else :D

that sewing machine is like mine except mine is 2 months old.
i replaced my 56 singer machine just because this new one was cheap. now if i can find canvas i can make a new cot piece. i already have brackets and poles (poles copied from Joe Slacks 66 dove blue og westy)....

Hi Bill, where did you buy your sewing machine from my school needs an industrial sewing machine for our shop and I'm shopping around.

Also I am in the process of buying Baywindow poles, cutting & welding do you have a better idea?

Linda, just go to a steel tubing supplier and get some heavy wall steel tubing, squash the ends in a press, and bend them over in a vise. They are not hard to make. Don't use EMT--way too thin, and annealed. You don't want your rods to be bendy.

The baywindow rods are way wrong for a split bus.

I have the length measurements if you need them.

I bought a baywindow cot cheap, poles and canvas, and butchered it to fit my kombi. It's probably easier and more authentic to make new poles from scratch. I ended up cutting both ends off the front pole, and repositioning them to fit after I'd cut the 8 or so inches out of the pole. I can't remember now but I think I only had to cut one end of the B pillar pole when I shortened it.

The older style brackets were sourced here on the samba, again they were a fair price.

I wasn't so bothered about authenticity when I did mine though, it's in a repro Devon conversion not a Westy, so I wasn't concerned with the details. Now if I was putting it in a Westy ...

EMT is electrical conduit. It is made to bend. Not what you want in a bed.

I have a set I picked up with my bus...How can i tell if they are split or bay window cots? Dimensions? markings? I'd be interested in trading for some things I need if I knew they were going to a good home. Let me know how to tell the difference...if we are lucky they just might be for a split...if not..oh well

Quickest way to tell is that the split cot is narrower at the front than the back and one pole is shorter than the other.

I haven't been able to find anything on placement of the cot brackets....measurements from the dash up or ceiling down?

Here is how my cut-down bay cot looks. Not nearly as taught as the real thing.

But according to my 7-year old it is plenty comfortable.
