the guy said he wanted to put a radio in it and an oil change, never ran again. IS there some sort of built in theft protection system?

5spd, 120,000miles, needs lots of TLC , but for 500 I couldnt leave it

Is there an online shopmanual availible?

Does the engine turn over? There is nothing connected to the radio that would prevent it from starting. 98s don't have the immobilizer system. Give us some more details on what it will or will not do, and we can help you out.

put a fresh battery in it and nothing. checked the fuses, a 15Amp was blown, looks to be 43? just checking starter wiring now

also, with the key turned, if I press the clutch, I can hear a relay click, so I think the pedal switch and key switch work

just checked, the key remote is gutted, the lock on drivers door just turns right around. will need to take the door apart. I was trying the turn left then right bit to try to override the alarm

When you open the driver's door, there is a rubber cap that is visible (on the door), if you remove this, there is a torx screw behind it. This is the screw that secures the lock part of the door handle in place. Loosen this, and you can remove the lock part. With that removed, you can then use a slotted screwdriver to lock or unlock (disable the alarm) the door. If you still can't ge the starter to crank the engine, first make sure the engine is not seized! Second, the comfort control module ( window, alarm, starter lockout) is in a plactic box under the carpet on the driver's side floor. If the car had a water leak, this box may have filled with water, and of course a wet ccm is not going to work. If the ccm is bad the car may not turn over.

was a bad starter, the wire from the solenoid to the motor oxidised through. got a wire connector, seems to work.

Now it runs on 3 cylinders, #2 coil not firing. Swapped them around, always number 2 cylinder, gonna check the wiring.

I think each coil has a ground to the valve cover. Check that and then pull the plug and check that. With the plug out crank it for a sec and smell the hole to see if gas is even getting to the cylinder.

Replace the ignition output stage (the thing with the 2 plugs on it bolted on top of the air box). For some reason when they fail, #2 coil doesn't fire. I've replaced a bunch of them over the last 10 years!
