12 volt was available for special order back in the 50's, 6 volt on standards continued in Europe into the 70's and as stated, for USA export, it changed to 12v beginning with the 67 model year.

| Nothing wrong with 6V if everything is working. Parts and bulbs readily available....A good 6V battery cranks an engine over just fine...only problem might be getting a modern accessories like a radio to work if you want to go that route and not be content with vintage sound....but they may even make 6V radios too... |

| If you are going to do that, then I would recommend getting something in the mid-late 70's. |
