Hi,
I had to drill out the pop rivets that hold the sides of the jalousie windows opening brackets on my 75 westfalia in order to get new rubbers in.
If you have replaced the rubber on the side bits you will know what I mean.
The trouble is they seem to be held in with special pop rivets. At least none I have will do the job even though they fit, it seems like there needs to be a longer pop rivet shaft.
Would anyone happen to know what it is I am looking for exactly, (size/type etc) to help track down something so I can rebuild them.
thanks,
Kevin |

kevin - I haven't a clue what the original rivets look like but have you gone to mcmaster-carr to see what rivets are available? We had to install some on a piece of luggage we had where the handle broke and the manufacturer sent some about 2" long in the kit. They come in all sizes.

thank you for the reply, I'm in the uk so don't have that shop available but there is a lot of various types. seeing the variety of sizes I figure a hardware store will probably be able to help me, I guess I'll have to trial and error until I find something suitable

for info for others I used 4mm dia riverts with a 13mm shaft. I also inserted a 1mm feeler gauge so that when the pop rivet closed up I retained some play to operate the windows.
seems to have worked well. |
