In the diagram it shows item 30 which might be some sort of seal but I can't tell for sure.
Looks like it's a plastic bushing.

| I have a 1971 1302 which seems totally stock and complete. The connection between the vents and the airbox are made by big thick felt things (no snap connectors just make up whole with cotton cloth on the outside and inside) which look original (i.e. they look like they are 50 years old!). I have just replaced the vents through the dash (padded dash) because they had biodegraded in the US heat and it has all gone together well. I had wondered about the felt and the holes and someone said it might be to be with sound deadening - seems to me to make sense because the holes would then allow sound out from the ducts into the felt and so reduce the sound coming down the duct and out of the screen vents. As a bit of chat - when I cleared out the broken cardboard out from the tubes from the floor channels to the chicken foot - I looked down them with a borescope to make sure clear and at the bottom I found a 1967 quarter dollar - it is a 1971 car and the car was imported from the US to the UK in 1990, so it shows my heater channels are original! |
