I just bought an oval and the guy told me it was european. and i figured it was since it has semaphores and the front and back fenders and the bumpers are european... that is until i realized that the back fenders have been welded and filled to look european. i dont have any tailights on the car. theres a number in the front that says 1/11 and i looked it up in a book and it says that its a LHD sedan. could someone please tell me what i have?

This is a bit tricky. You either have an early '55, or later '55 that is European. Do you have holes for overriders on your front apron? Remember that the fenders might not be original. The apron is a bit harder to swap.

The overriders are not a dead give away either. I have a September '54 with overriders on it. I've seen factory certificates listed with code 107 "Ram Guards" or overrider bumpers.

Does your car have cloth interior? Most of the European cars came with cloth. The only way to truely figure this out is to order a certificate form the factory, which will tell you when your car was made, and the options that came on it. Go to: http://www.ploon.nl/ and click on the link at the bottom named "birth certificates". Good luck.
