I am looking very seriously at a 68 Beetle Convertible. Appears to be in good shape, although it has been painted....the original color of yellow was kept. Paint job just a little better than ok. A little overspray on the wiring underneith the steering collumn and a little on the sides of the brake pedal cluster. A couple of things I have noticed make me wonder if it has been wrecked before:

1)It has only one Karman badge....it is on the right side in front of the door where they normally are....but there is not one on the left side. Does anyone know if they just put one on the right side only?

2)The part of the body beneith the rear bumper and in between the two rear fenders where the two tail pipes protrude through.....the two cutouts for the tail pipes are a bit squared off, not rounded like I am used to seeing. Further, this entire piece appears to be fiberglass. Any thoughts anyone?

Thanks for any advice anyone can provide.

The only Karmann badge is on the right side, there wasn't one on the left. It looks like somebody's botched up repair or custom job on your rear apron. The cutouts should be rounded off and most definately should be metal.

Yup to the badge. Just one on my vert, right side.

Sounds like you better take A real good look at it. Could be A quick fix job. Rust hides pretty good, but for A short time under paint. And for A vert. I would think they would have done A little better job on the over spray.
