I took a new rebuilt engine out of a 75 super and put it in my 70 and thought that the conversion from generator to alternator would be easy. It wasn't due to the fact that it is a factory motorolla alternator. I got the dash light to work and I was told that the red wires went to the post on the right. I hooked it up, but the little light won't turn off. I am just wondering if there is anyone out there that knows what is going on because I really don't want to go buy a new alternator while this one is still good. ANY info would be muchly appreciated.

First off the Voltage regualtor under the back seat is not the same for an alternator.... If you did not get the one from the car you took the engine out of then you need to get one.... There is a flat sealed Motorola type and a Bosch Box type (but not like the generator style at all.) either one will still work but I prefer the Motorola one..

the connections differ slightly but with a wiring diagram for a 74-75 you should be able to sort it out. If the car you got the motor out of is still around get the wiring harness pieces for the system out of it, or if you can find any late 73 or a later model you can use parts off that... good luck and be careful you could burn some stuff up if it's not right....

Oh yeah, a Bosch AL-82X (rebuilt) or N (new) is around 100-125 depending and it has a built in regulator and only 2 (3 including brown ground) wires to hook up and you tie(connect) the ones under the back seat together....
