hey, i bought this rack at the veterama last weekend. the guy said it came off his parents split vert. the mounts are curved, so it might be possible. has anybody ever seen one of these?
it should have those rubber mounts on one side and ist screwed betwenn the vert slots.
sorry for the pics, i should have made one with the whole thing.

A pic of the whole thing would be better, especially mounted. I can see how it could work on a vert.
The only vert rear rack I've seen, is a later model, oval to big window, which I own. It can be used on hardtops, but fits in the decklid lip to be used on a vert, where as all the re-pops I have seen fit in the vent below the rear window, so cannot be used on a vert. Mine could be used on a split, but IMO just doesn't look old enough for one |

Lietz made a few styles of these for decklids, but whats left of that sticker is not a Lietz sticker. I'm also not sure if your rack is complete, the vent hardware looks correct, similar to the Lietz mounts, but can't see if you have any of the lateral support tubes, which typically run down to fasten to the bumper brackets. I tend to doubt that rack would only be mounted the vent grills alone.
Maybe IN2VWS can pour through the archives he has and will post up a catalog shot, we can hope! |

the seller said, the springs (which you can see on the pic) will hook up to the bumpermounts. so the rubber things will hold up to the hood.
but you are right, i have to take a better picture.

It is difficult to identify the rack from the pics you posted.
I could not find a pic of a rack for a vert. I did find many listings that listed a cabrio version of the rack, but no pics of them. Sorry.
