Having closely looked at my 59 beetle i feel the front end is sitting way to high.I originely thought the back was to low. Is it a hard job to lower the front end ???Any advise on this would be great . thanks Steve

Oh, and by the way...I'm only 19, and my friends 17....so if we can do it, so can you ;)

Alls I have to say is wow! OK, I actually own a '59 bug....and I lowered it....Last night....How weird is that. Well my man, I'm hear to tell you it's simple. There's 2 ways to go...You can go with the $200 front spindles...that bolt on. Or you can go with a $120 pre-welded, adjustable beam(up to 4 inch drop) or you could pay $15, get the adjusters, and do it yourself. I actually did it myself last night...My beam was in the car, and we removed it and took it down to the bare beam, and cut and welded them ourselves(me and my buddy). Actually, I documented it all, via a digital camera. Which I'm hoping to get some pics on a tech site somewhere...not sure where yet. But I got the beam back in no prob, and it looks GREAT! It's crazy low...Let's just put it that way. But If You own a welder, or can get someone to do it, by all means pay the $15 and get the "weld in adjusters"...or just buy the new beam(sometimes the old ones rot out...get a new)
Peace.

Well i've got to say i am bloody impressed with your web page and it will be a great help to me and plenty of other VW fans out there. All i will have to do is find out where i can get these (Weld in adjusters)from. In the town i live in we have very few VW specialists .Probably only (2) +About 2 wreckers. But i will find someone whos got them. Thanks for your effort in helping me out. Regards Steve. PS Love the welding with the eyes closed.

What up Grahams, look in Volks World if you guys get that magazine and someone should have them in there. Or if you want to order them from the U.S., call
Pacific Customs 1-909-738-8380.
They cost about $7.00 US dollars.
If you weld them in. Just make sure your beam is aligned right. It's really easy to do. Good luck!

P.S. Props to James for taking on the welding at a young age, even with the eyes closed :)

Thanks for the advise on that Tony. I only buy the odd volks world book because in New zealand they are really expensive &15.00. Most mags are around 6 or 7 dollars.
