I was checking out a really nice looking classic VW bug, seller note's the heater tubes have rust in them mainly in the front
what other purpose do these tube serve besides directing hot air into the cab,
are they also structial support for the shell "looking for a grocery getter for around town tiny freeway trips if any"
any advice or info on this would be helpful

yes they are structural supports , the heater chennels and pans are always the first to go , and its always near the front becouse thats where the vents are (or were) it depends on how bad it is but you should be able to drive the car unless its badly rusted all around

Anyone else have any input on this

Get Pics... send them to me if you can.... depending on the cost of the car ect.... define classic, what year are you talking about? it could be worth doing.... I have repaired many that alot would not touch. Most of the replacement panels are made.... it's just the time/labor issue....
