That's some intense work and welding angles. I understand how you had to get access but what a bummer that much good floor had to go. You make it look easy.

Thanks BarryL,
Unfortunately the floor was very rusted, had small holes all around, and some thin parts in sheet, primer make it looks better than it was.
I took good time thinking if must take it out or not. Finally decided the best is put a new floor ( i want it all my life stand by me ). Here some more pics without primer:

And here some pics of front floor:

I was lucky to find this part my bus was missing:

Time to weld on place! :D

And this is the bus who "donate" this part, it is in Cordoba Province, a 1956 split. It's a shame, history didn't was good with it.

Something strange i just noticed... this bus also have stripes, like mine had!

Culito Thu Nov 04, 2010 8:30 pm

It has the lower black area, too.
I guess it was meant to be!

Really impressive standard of work you're doing... and very hard sections too... in Argentina no less! Tripping out over the front door and frame rail work. Amazing. You need to be talking with Gerson on here... but then again... seems like you're doing quite well coming up with very suitable replacement metal. Looking forward to more!

Yes, just like i spoke with novetti there is only about 15 split buses in Argentina, and absolutely no parts. It becomes a nice challenge! :D

Yes... poor bus... :(

firula Fri Nov 05, 2010 8:40 pm

Here some more pics, the cross braces was very rusty. So i had to make new ones.

firula Fri Nov 05, 2010 8:47 pm

The left side panel was totally curly, also welded really bad, not nice to stay there... this bus was impact just after dog leg.

As you can see, there is some paint into the parts who makes unaccessible boxes. I painted with a sponge attached to the end of a piece of soft metal wire. I imagine that can prevent some future potential rust.
