Hey Noah and "Dad",

Good stuff! First car I ever worked on was a '74 bug. Father/son time is priceless... Noah, I'm sure you enjoy spending time with your dad now, but one day you'll look back on it and really treasure it.

My dad taught me a lot of "man stuff", and got me into cars... my son is 3, and I look forward to the hours we'll spend in the shop together. Heck, his big sister can join us too!

Realy great to come across this thread, and like everyone else has already said, keep the updates coming!

You are correct. The time Noah and I have got to spend together is priceless. My hobby is antique tractors (you can tell from the pictures). The VW bug has been a treat to work on. I have been totally impressed with the design and construction. When you consider the time frame in which it was developed, it is an engineering marvel! Hopefully this will be something Noah will treasure for years to come.

Noah's dad.

Thanks for all your comments.

We are now getting ready to install the wiring and headliner. Hope to post pictures of the progress. This bug was a late production 1972 and came from the factory with 73 harness. It took us a while to figure this out. Now we are making progress, have all the wires labeled and ready to install. To make matters even worse, this bug had suffered a engine fire so the wire harness beyond the rear seat was toast. The previous owner had acquired a replacement section of harness from the voltage regulator rearward (under rear seat) from a 1974 Super Beetle. We were able to graft the two harnesses into one complete harness, just a couple of wires change color under the rear seat.
