If it was better than a VW Bus then why are there no "Big" Econoline followings... ... Sure they are cool "vans"... but nothing compares to the Bus........ of which there are more on the road than the early Econoline vans... 8)
Those engine covers were warm in winter to sit on though... |

| I think that if a bunch of guys on a Mustang forum thought actual VW buses were better than the Ford attempt at a copy, they would be showing unexpected wisdom and good taste, although the other guys on their forum would probably shout them down. Did it surprise you that Mustang guys would like Econolines? |

Some guy in town has a nicely restored econoline.
Its nice, but I would still take the bus over it.
Maybe I'll try to steal pics of it. He has a Wooden side panel, and its yellow and blue. Not really good looking, but nicely done work restoring it. |

Most likely as a VW support vehicle. |

| He said that his blood was too blue, hence the Ford. He also got what he wanted or thought that his wife would like. Hmmmm, I'll bet that if you drive a Bus down his street his wife would slap him. |

| I love old econolines and the flat nosed Dodges.. Bet you can get parts at any FLAPs. That would be different :D . I woud never get one instead of a bus but I would happily add one to my fleet if I had the chance, especially for $450. That one is in great shape by the looks of it.. Not better, just different, still a cool ride IMHO.. Not at all surprised the Mustang guys like em better, I mean they are Ford guys.. Metric parts confuse them  .. |

| If everyone thought that VW Buses were great, then there'd be no one to save all the other cars out there. The Ford might not be for me, but I'm glad there are people passionate about them and are saving them. |

| I've got great memories of road trips in the sixties in an Econoline. They're a beautiful vehicle too. But they didn't offer a Westfalia option, now did they? |

To each their own.
I like the old vans like that... and if my family had their way I would have never owned a vw... I even tried to buy one of my grandfathers 20+ corvairs off of him at the time i turned 16 and that was a no go, he wouldn't sell... funny how a decade after the fact he said I could have ALL of the corvairs and do with them what I please... unfortunately I now live 600 miles away from them and don't have the time or desire to fool with them!
Still... I would never part with my bus for any other old van. |

We traveled the country when I was young in a 71 Chevy Van. In 1976 we painted it red white and blue with a big US flag on the roof. We drove that all around from San Diego to Tampa to Buffalo NY in the summer with no AC. My dad converted the insides to a camper with bench seating. Later on my mom paid to have it converted by a shop. With the pace my mom drove back then, a 72-79 bus would of been the same with added benifits of a Westfalia interior. But they were raised thinking that VWs were glamorized lawn mowers
I have a 98 Ford van I drive primarily for trips with the kids. AC and lots of room is hard to beat. But I am selling it and switching to driving my 77 westy. It should be a nice ride once I get back to the PNW and not need an AC like here in San Antonio :?

| I miss my 62 Econoline that I cruised the roads with in the early 70's, at the same time I like my bus, given a choice between the two I would love to have both. |
