You can replace the back rear windows with pop outs in a short amount of time. You just need to get a set of them, I'm sure you could find them here or at a swap meet. I got mine for free from a friend.

Hey, thanks alot. Any website you know of to get the back popouts? Thanks. O and the white window rubber for a split window also

"white window rubber for a split window also"

what are you talking about white rubber on a split window bug?

Flyer20200 Mon Jan 13, 2003 12:48 pm

Yea, I have a 57 oval window bug that has been converted to a split window. I need white window rubber for the split window in the back. I thought i made it pretty clear but there is a more detailed description. Thanks

I don't think that anyone ever did that kit, the did oval's but I don't think split, you may have to buy the oval kit, and then cut the rubber to fit the splits

Yea, that's what I was afraid of. If i get popout windows for the quater panel windows, i can use that rubber to do the split window. Thanks, just wanted to know if they sold a kit that had everything.

Someone was looking for "white rubber" (also known as Hawaiian Look) and Hot VWs said that it was no longer being produced. This was 8-10 months ago.

Dominic Wed Jan 15, 2003 7:30 pm

Well, they lied. They sell them at what used to be Car Custom in Azusa California. Now it's called CNC Motor Sports.

chabanais Wed Jan 15, 2003 11:01 pm

I don't think they "lied," I think they just didn't know as much about it as you apparently do.

Dominic Thu Jan 16, 2003 1:43 am

Don't be defensive because you gave out the wrong info, again! they are a huge magazine company, dealing with VWs, right, and you say "someone" was looking for them, Hot VWs "said" they were no longer being produced, what was the persons name you spoke to on the phone? And when exactly did this take place, 8-10 months ago.....
F-in bullsh!tter!
Come back when you have some concrete information!

I read Hot VWs every month. In the Q&A section there was a question about how to obtain the "Hawaiian Look" rubber because a Hawaiian Look Bug had been featured in a previous issue. Hot VWs response was that this color of rubber was no longer being manufactured. Now, I'm sure that Hot VWs knows more about the "scene" than either one of us. If you have an issue with it why don't you send them an email. I am sorry if Hot VWs was wrong, thereby making my answer wrong. I hope it didn't ruin your week. If you want I will look for the specific issue in which their response appeared.

I guess it's my turn right? LOL!

See how ridiculus you sound when you don't think before you speak. Which is it? Make up your mind. Do I know more than Hot VWS or do they know more than both of us? I don't have an issue with "Them", I have an issue with people like you, including J_kub, who also gives out wrong information and advise. That's what most of these forums lead back to. People like you who think they are the SH!T when it comes to vws, and you're really just another person here, trying to fit in, but all you do is get in the way.

Say hello to J-kub and roy for me!

Hey guys, thanks for your help, but Dominic, I can't find a website for this place you're talking about. If you have it, send me the url so I can sign up for their magazine. Thanks

Ryan

Ryan, I tried to find their website and I don't think that they have one. When it was Car Custom, they had their stuff together but now they sell VW, truck and rice burner stuff. I'll stop by there tomorrow and get some info on it for you. Where do you live?

Flyer20200 Fri Jan 17, 2003 4:20 pm

I live in FL, so going to get that stuff would be a problem. But thanks for looking, and I'll check back. Thanks

White rubber is definitly not being produced in kit form these days, therefore your only attemped to get your fix is a truly custom job,in fact you should talk around town to some of your local autoglass shops about window trim,i redid a 79 volks rabbit last year and the old window trim with that nasty middle plastic strip had to go since the car was a complete shave jobber,i got a drop from a dude at my autoglass shop about a company that made ,made to order rubber:)

Flyer20200 Mon Jan 20, 2003 7:55 am

I would have to disagree kadolph. White window rubber is being produced in kit form...just not for split window. Do some research next time...Thanks
