anyone know how to remove the gaa gauge ? not sure if it comes apart from the cable at the gauge, or fuel tank and don't want to ruin it

I can only tell you my knowledge on an oval Dehne Fuel gauge, thermometer style. The gauge comes apart at the sending unit on the gas tank. Track the metal wire, should be in a tube, to the sending unit and it will have a round, column shaped metal end. That will be attached to the sending unit itself. Pull that up and it is detached from the sending unit. The gauge face is attached on the back of the dash via a nut over the light. Loosen the nut and you are in business... This is at least how I put mine together from the best of my memory.

Thats right. Dont pull he cable out from the gauge. The cable is connected to a piece of red foil or something and when the cable pulls it moves the red strip up and down to show fuel level. If you pull it out it may never go back in a move properly.
