Thanks Everett- I don't have a "right click" so when I highlight the code box- i don't get a drop down. I'm home sick as a dog- but I will try from my PC at work. We used pulverized windshields for media- no warpage, no need to wash to neutralize. About $400/ton (1 bag!) did a great job. the only metal we're replacing is the entire cargo rocker, including the rear, bottom of b pillar, passenger dogleg, one belly pan (only half is rusted from a mouse nest) and 1/2 the front floor.and a couple small patches. It is way more solid than the pics in the barn would appear. I'll try and post progress pics- the metal work is mostly done.

love it, my favorite model year(s)

maybe you can work with jehugarcia, he has all the metal to convert it to a panel :)

anyway, looks super solid, hope you can figure out the tablet thing

That bus deserves a correct front cargo door.

Nice to see it get some lovin'

Well- just a quick update. Just about ready for paint- trying to find a good recipe for the SWR (PPG)- what a fluster cluck. Still debating on primer bottom with over spray, or nicer than factory paint on the bottom. I had a 67' tranny built, and I'm thinking a vintage speed appearing motor. Front end is all restored as well- so as soon as its painted- it should roll pretty quickly. That is all-

Non-recessed handle area... someone will probably make one available to you. Nice find & nice save!
Outer cargo door handle (55- 58 ) is different too... (Pic from gallery)

I noticed the ppg code is incorrect as well, too much red, needs some white to soften the colour, Just remixing mine tomorrow as well.
I am also scanning my orig paint from the parcel tray to colour match, If i can get a good code i will let you know.
Cheers

I also followed the Dead in a split bus for a few years... . I still drive my old Dead sticker emblazon 66 westy for camping trips etc ...

:D I love the beauty and classiness of a properly restored all stock 1950's samba! :D

I could see building an Ocrassa type 36hp for one of these ... I think that would look pretty bad ass and still push you down the road at a reasonable speed ... especially with a late tranny and you could still use the crank nut and crank !

I custom tinted mine after mixing to the formula first . mine was matched to a polished out spot on the OG package tray that was hidden from light under the fabric .I was pretty happy with the results using PPG Concept.

Mike- I think your version of SWR looks great. Any chance you have the formula after adjustments- or could get the bus to a place that can shoot the color with one of those electric eye thingamabobs? Any help would be appreciated. On a side note-What shows did you go to?

On a side note-What shows did you go to? You can have a flattening agent added to some grey paint to make the underside look like the og primer.

Mine actually (and it seems other sunroof buses in particular) was mostly painted underneath. Under the splash pan, and the belly pans was Chestnut Brown, and the rest was SWR. It was still sloppy- but not much grey primer showing. That's why I'm considering repainting those areas like it came- but cleaner lines vs. sloppy.

Unfortunately the bus is stored some distance from where I am living and no place near a paint shop . Otherwise I'd be happy to do it for you. I still have a bit of paint in the can ... not sure if that would help you though . Let me know if you need any other help or advice. I look forward to seeing yours come together! My bus has only been to one show... Vintage Meet in Seattle two years ago.

Really pretty.

Which tail lights are you going with? The holes look like euro or bubble holes but the front has bullet blinkers?

Yours is just a few months newer than ours. Maybe sometime we can have a MN 23 window bus parade :D

Keep up the good work.
