Hey, Well it seems you asked it 10 years to late. In 2000 the company stoped complete. All the left over stuff ( lot's of it) was bought by a well known collector in Hessisch ...
If you want to see some stuf you have to come to the next Hessisch Oldendorf treffen and have luck to visit the museum.
There is nothing left in Berlin in the Nestorstrasse, even the neonlights are moved over to Hessisch... |

Hi Phil
I got the scans of the postcard form the current owner of the Rometsch coupe "found" in december last year. He got the postcard together with other Rometsch information you sent to the previous owner: Richard Bailey.
It was this car.
The current owner also told me that in the early 90th a Doctor was interested in the car. Probably Mac Jones.
Regarding your old car: Mac Jones still got it. (confirmed two days ago by Mac Jones himself)
Regards
Patrick |

My bad, there was another warehouse i didnt see..and i was told the car was in there, so unless something very recent happened, Mac still has it.
p.s. along with a ton of other...mouth watering, jaw dropping, sweet cars, |

That sounds more like the Dr. Mac Jones that I know  If he ever put his
collection up for sale, everyone would be talking about it.
I don't recall the coupe that Patrick posted photo's of. The post cards were included in the information packet that we would send out to any interested parties. As a side note back in the 70's and early 80's a dozen or more people wrote us about their Rometsch's. No photos, just questions...
how much is it worth? And do I want to buy it?
To be blunt, at that time most of their cars were worthless piles of junk.
Since the restoration costs far out weighed the cars market value, I'm afraid
some went to the wrecking yard. Hind sight being what it is I should have
bought all of the cars offered to me...C'est la vie. |

Hey Phil,
Do you remember 1986? (note to those reading this... some info in this letter below is incorrect... suicide doors go on all Beeskows through 57 and some beeskows were imported via various distributors)
interesting that she and you had 45 Rometsch cars known... we have found about 20 more cars since then!
I think Maribeth gave me a copy of this letter... I can't remember where or when. Here is a link to the car mentioned in this letter... photos from 1985:

Hi Eric, 25 years ago... maybe just the hi-lites. Maribeth never was much on the nut & bolts of the Rometsch
cars, her strong suit was PR and always trying to help people. Regarding the Rometsch head count, back in those days people would write or call us once and then disappear. If we were lucky the car would resurface a few
years later. At any one time we could contact maybe thirty owners at best, and of course all correspondence was
via "snail mail".
I'll pick this as a good stopping point....I tend to be long winded and boring  |

Yep, one of those guys was me. I called to ask for your advice about the car we now know as #547 back in 1983. :) |

Phil; This is even better than the lost pictures.....the real thing:
http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=1109077
And trust me: If the Rometsch Registry of today had a big bank account - we would spend it on reuniting our founder with the "founder-car". But ....unfortunately there is not even a bank account... |
