hello guys, i got asked a lot, what i´m doing next.
so here´s, what i´m doing at the moment.
i´m searching for all literature about the Pre Series Barndoors, to build up a exact copy of the Barnoor Prototype Window Bus.

Today i got this AWESOME gift, which will help a lot to figure out all the details. its a 1949 pictureseries from Volkswagen. Peter made my day! 8)

I love the detail about the lower lights and outcomming gas-run.

i´m also on a pre 5500 50 at the moment, which will be used as a donor for that project. it´s not much left of this one but i already have the titel of it, the rest will follow! 8)

rad.........this was on my to do list as well,are there any pics of the chassis? i had wanted to make a fairly accurate representation of the prototype..........of course not using 50 and later bd parts

how crazy are you getting as far as accuracy? is this going to be another lowrider?

from what ive seen in pics,using any production body parts or repro metal is not going to be correct

Werent the early early prototypes on bug pans but written off because of torsional rigidity?

my book says

the first prototype used a beetle floor, which proved too weak.
the same prototype was then rebuilt, using a ladder type floor structure - i guess very similar to the production floor

all subsequent prototypes then had the ladder-type structure

so will this be built as it first was?........as the original prototype,or as its second generation rebuilt with the ladder frame? 3rd generation? new generation?

will it be built in the same way the original was or be built around regular production parts?

or is it going to be built to look like the prototype but slammed?

how accurate will it be? and what is the goal? great build idea by the way!

im curious,mostly because i had kinda given thought to building a tribute prototype someday

i´m going to build it up as original i can go with the informations i have.
so it will look like the one in the picture but with a personal touch.

i´m going to use the parts i can get for it and we make it looking the same as it was build in 49, thats the goal on it.

The last one had a pink wiring loom and a porn mag roof lining, so god knows what the next 'personal touch' will be :lol:

right on,thanks for the answers,its actually pretty much what i had expected

its alot of work no matter which way you go so kudos

are you using a donor bus or something? building from nothing?

sounds like your building a "fun" personal creation,its cool that the door will still be open for an accurate representation of the prototype too

cant wait to see the build.............well i will probably cringe when i see it become a lowrider but lots of respect,good luck!

the donor will be a 50, you can´t go closer for a original prototype rebuild! :wink:
