Trying to locate the cause of a hesitation/surging issue in our 84 Vanagon.
Latest thing we did was take out the new o2 sensor. There was no change in the running of the van. There is a tinny noise coming from the catalytic converter area.
Question then is can a non-working Cat converter somehow affect the readings of the oxygen sensor as it warms up and cause the fuel mixture to be too rich?
Do these symptoms sound like they are they the converter?
one more question-- the o2 sensor is the spliced in kind-- could I just have gotten a bad sensor?
thanks! |
