Making my own thread for my brasilia. i am based here in the Philippines and got my car for few months now. I have been thinking of selling the car many times since i got it due to bad experiences, but when some one was already getting it I felt sad about it. But good then the one who bought it returned it due to unreadiness too as what i have entered when i bought it.. but then little by little its looking better already.. here are sone before pics:
after a long time of loosing hope for the car and much sweat and wounds and money cleaning the car atleast it looked like car after all i have removed the super old and cracking tint, changed lights, chromed bumpers, changed dash board, snaded the body and used some body fillers, and the hardest thing to do is to remove the flooding issue of the car inside.. hehe.. here are the pics when i have cleaned it abit:
so then listed parts to be needed and ofcourse still not complete but here are some things i have bought and not yet installed but then would be sooner.
this time i the car is already running and atleast i could bring it around our vicinity already thanks to the help of friends who are rally helpful and would be there even no money involved. here are the pics of the current state of the car sorry for the crappy pics just phone shots:
would be bringing it to a shop probably this coming weekend to let the brakes and engine be fixed correctly this time! want it to run great and be a hood ride while saving up for a body and paint job.. :D :D :panel :badge :groupwave |

Welcome to The Samba, timotaba. You have a big job ahead of you. That Brasilia is barely complete. At least labor is reasonable there. You would go broke paying somebody here in California to fix that.
There's a guy in Metro Manila who has access to some of the parts VW abandoned there when they closed down DMG back around 1984. I went to visit him a few years back and saw some Brasilia body parts even brand new pans. The problem with him is he was looking to get US prices for the parts. :(
Anyway, best of luck on your project. Maybe I'll get a chance to see it complete in person one of these days. I haven't been there in a while but plan to come back soon. 8) |

Hey, I just realized I have some brand new taillight lenses for that car. I bought it for a Puma but I ended up not buying the car. Pumas used Brasilia taillights.
I thought it was weird that Jeepneys like the Sarao's had the same lights. Now I know why. The Brasilias were sold in the Philippines too. I did not know that before.
If you hear of any Sakbayans in good condition, I'm looking for one. I have friends in M.M. who can check it out for me.
Thanks, |

Hey, I'm looking to import a Brasilia from Mexico so I'm scouring the internet for all the info I can find about these cars. I found it peculiar that you said "Pumas used Brasilia taillights." This is the kind of information that I'm looking for. Have you any links to sources? |

Well, you resurrected a 2+ year old which the OP didn't even respond to.😏
What year Brasilia are looking to bring in? As you might be aware, anything older than 1975 may present some smog check challenges in Cali.
You are looking at it backwards as Pumas go. Brasilia parts will be easier to locate than Puma parts. That's because they sourced Puma parts from the VW parts bins and not the other way around. For example, the earlier Pumas used VW Type II T2 (baywindow vans) taillights.
The source I was quoting advertised on the Samba. But then, that was more than a couple of years ago. Last time I checked, they had someone else advertising and looked like the location changed from Manila to a place called Taytay. That's about 19 miles away. That's not far from our point of view. But from their perspective, that's like going to another state because traffic makes travel there very slow and arduous. Anyway, the current advertiser posts very high shipping prices. Chances are, buying parts in Mexico will bench cheaper. |

I have my fingers crossed... I ordered taillight lenses and door lock knobs from VW Antigo of Brazil for my 81 Brasilia and have been getting tracking emails.. He has a great selection of parts and will keep you all posted when the parts arrive.
