You and I have talked before I believe. I once had a 63 Noth that you were interested in. Small world.

Glad to have met you, Kevin, and Bob so far. Today, Bob was cool enough to come by, take some snaps, and help me identify areas I can immediately give attention. He has devised a game plan to get me going. I can hardly wait but I do have my work cut out for me.

Tonight I hope to get my Bus out of the garage, get the Notch on Jackstands, and pull the trans. Gonna change the mounts, throw out bearing, and clean it up really good. I am also going to pull all cylinders and rebuild them.

cool do you think you will have at any of the LA shows this summer?

Thank you very much. I was given an easy project with that Bus. Much like this Notch.

I will do my best to pay it the justice it deserves.

Quote: I was hoping to tap out what few dents are there and then have a professional color sand, buff, and blend if necessary.

I will likely paint the rims and put some new tires on at the very minimum. I'm over having a "show" car but I hope to make it clean and run perfect.

We have 2 "show " cars in the garage and I daily drive my 65 Square
I tried a different approach for mine, i scuffed it and cleared over the OG paint.

I wanted a driver with the shine but didn't want to lose the patina, and polishing the red paint would be a regular thing to keep it shining.

I am hoping to have it at a few shows this summer and some get-togethers. I am shooting to have it running and driving for May 1st; either the Bug-In or The Spring Picnic.

If you make it down from Elk Grove, beer is on me 8)

65Nsqback Wed Mar 23, 2011 5:45 pm

I'll be there... I try and get to all the so cal shows

I agree; super cool.

Well I spoke to Bob about the visit. He seemed as excited to tell me about your notch as he described you being excited to own it! Ill let him chime in first before we disect and re-assemble.

Welcome to notchback ownership. You picked a nice correct notch to restore.

Today's progress:

This is how it started

Pulled brakes to have cylinders rebuilt. Fronts look fine.

Rears; Not so much

Drivers side had no shoes or hardware. Passenger side looked like this

Then I tackled the trans

Put up a fight but look who won

Freaking starter would not come out

Front is dirty but I tackle that tomorrow

Okay, onto the paint. I wet sanded for 10 minutes with 1200 grit. I see OG Paint under there

Nah, I gotta get it up to par. I cleaned the crap out of the engine bay and started cleaning the trans.

Gonna finish cleaning the trans and get some new mounts/ axle boots.

I have the backing plates in the truck for blast/ powder and drums to be turned.

It took me a good 10 minutes to wrap my head around the idea that the shift coupler was under a plate on the bottom of the car.

Damn--that's a great score.

Looks killer--I'm pretty stoked to see it.

I love how you dive right in the second you get it--that's my style!

The only issue I see is---gloves??? Really?!
