Hi all, so much to my chagrin I got the CB Disc brakes on all fours. I also got some 14" thing smoothies, like and idiot I didn't test them before I invested in them. So it turns out that the inside of a 14" rim is way too tight for the caliper to fit :? which is rather frustrating because I had the rims powder coated, bought tires, portawalls and beauty rings. I have over a G invested in these rims and tires and over a G in the disc brakes. Almost about the same, however I might be easier to sell my cb brake kits than my custom wheels if anyone knows of a kit that will fit a bug and clear a 14" rim??? |

no wide 5 discs will fit a 14, the stock ghia discs might (doubtful) but they are 4 lug. You cant use an adapter on the 4 lug, to use 5 lug wheels, because the adapter will hit the caliper. Sucks but I think your only solution is to change to 15 inch bug wheels, or aftermarket wheels |

I'd put the drum brakes back on it, so I could run the wheels I wanted. |

I dunno... I've heard some pretty good things about disc brakes ;-) |

I have Type 3 discs on the front with 14" wire wheels.
Or just run 1/4" wide 5 spacers. |

They're so close though, I don't even know if 1/4" spacers are going to solve the problem :-/ On t3 discs are the rotors smaller? |

If you had 5 threaded studs and a handful of washers it would be easy to measure what you need to clear. |

Yeah, I suppose I'll have to experiment with that |

the casting on most calipers is also pretty thick and can be sanded down a bit to give some room. there was a "bump" on my caliper that hit the wheel and i took a grinder to it and then fine tuned with a sander. shit i just remembered i never repainted my calipers. better get on that...ken.... |

A buddy of mine just installed Saco disc on his 67 bus and he is running 14" rims. |

But will it work on a bug? |

I guess it would be their type 1 kit. Does anyone have this kit and know if it clears a 14" rim?

Does anyone know if the rotors are interchangeable between busses and bugs? Or is there a conversion spindle? |
