Pic catch up from yesterday's work.

I finished the gas tank reposition, 7 1/2 inches down and 4 inches forward. Not as good as a custom tank build, but a pretty good start.

I moved the oil cooler up to the top of the cage, a much more open position than before, but still somewhat protected from low hanging branches, or a "roof ride".

I don't think I'll have to worry about getting the oil too cool, down here in the swamp, but I wonder if a bypass/thermostat would be a good idea ?

Faster warmup's, and better performance on the few cool days (40-50 F )we get here each winter, would be welcome. Can some of you South Texas and Georgia boys advise?Thanks, Paul

Your Rail's looking nice! the only things I would suggest would be to make some sort of a bracket to lower the oil cooler to where the top of the shroud sits even with or inside of the roll cage down tubes. It not bad where it is, but if you could keep it inside it'd be even better and less likely to be damaged . The giant air filter snorkel could end up causing you some tuning issues too. I like the way you lowered the fuel tank, but I probably would have made a cradle for it to sit in instead of hanging it by the straps, its just a personal thing, but I'm sure it'll be fine the way you have it.

Got some more "frankenFAB done. The pedal set mount is 1/8th plate, mounting tab's are 3/16ths angle and bar stock. Otta stand up to a gorilla stomp...

This setup provides 8 inches of adjustment, Addel dew et!

Nice lookin rail. Did you make the pedal plate or buy it? I need something like that so i can eventually teach the wife how to drive a standard. Tryin to get her into the "sickness" of Buggy fever.... lol

Naw, that's pure frankenfab. I had to buy the plate, but everything else used so far, came from the scrap/drop, too good to toss, pile in the A/typical Racing Garage and Adult Daycare Center. (ARGADC) That's how my bride refers to my shop. (No sign out in front, but the big brown truck finds it every time)

If this was a payin' job, I couldn't afford it, :roll:

A little more pic catchup and a question.

The adjustable pedal mount turned out OK, now I just have to fabricobble an adjustable throttle cable setup. Any body have a pic, or a drawing, of how this is best done?

After a few lumps on the old noggin from whackin' the lower shock buckets hangin' down, I remembered a setup I saw a long time ago, but never tried. (the one I saw was way redneck engineered, just a bolt welded to the snubber mount, but it seemed to work OK)

What do ya'll think of fabbing up shock mounts to position the shock as shown in the picture?

A shock mount welded over the lower snubber mount (or just lose the snubber mount alltogether and box the "corner" with plate or flatbar) and an upper bracket/standoff would be easy to fab. I'M not trying to gain travel, but might gain a little ground clearance when I remove the lower shock buckets. (commonly called "sh*t grabbers") The worst this rig's gonna see is some trail ridin' and pig chasin' in the palmettos so I'm applyin' some minimalist engineering...

Input please?

WOW, over a hundred view's and not a single comment on my last post. Did I miss laundry month, again?

I got the trans painted and the beam dropped, finishing up the prime and prep on the frame. A couple of quarts of John Deere industrial implement yellow and late model green are waiting patiently on the bench. Can't wait to see how "Kansas camo" looks crusin' thru the palmetto's...

personaly i would weld plate on your trailing arms and put the shock mount on top. thats how i did mine and i like it. i have to say WOW :shock: that color of green is bright!! thats the kind of things boys around here in kansas love. good ol john deer! :lol:

Haha, Cass, any car with 2 shocks a side is BA. However, those are great for doing some serious rally style racing.

Just a little update.

The trans is back in the frame, front and rear suspension is finish detailed, engine is sporting her new colors.

Would you guy's share some pic's of adjustable pedal setups?

A little catch up, I finished the final sand and primer last monday. The humudity has been killer here lately. (Gee, imagine that. August in SW Florida... DUH)

My little Harbor Fright HVLP trim/jamb gun got 'er done. Painting a tube chassis without a static generator is not for the faint of heart. It took about 6 hours for 2 coats. Oh Well, it's all over now.

Tomorrow, the real fun starts...

Time for a little more catchup.

I started boltin' stuff on, it's a roller again. I added the lower bars on the rear cage to protect the bolt on sump and mount the skid plate, then fabricobbled the trailer hitch receiver. Brakes and clutch are plumbed, waiting on the SS flex lines to the M/Cylinder.
