Sorry I took so long to post this, apologies to anyone who went to Europe and didn't go and see this.
This was August 2009.
Volkswagen Group has a huge Showroom/Museum-Gallery of all their current models, Skodas, VW, Bentley, Seat, that 16 cylinder 4 Turbo thing I can't remember the name of, and a pristine 1989 Multivan, with 589,000km on the clock.
Gordy meets the Supermodel,

Pretty cool, Gordy. Thanks for sharing this. I had heard that VW had a high mileage example of a T3 in their museum but I had never seen a photo of it. From the plaque on the window it looks like the owner Dieter Schneider drove the van 585,000 km/366,000 miles in 14 years. I wonder if this was all on the original drivetrain.
I'm assuming VW restored the van. It looks totally pristine.

Thats. A lot of driving. Especially at eurofuel prices.
Wouldnt you love to sit down with Dieter and buy a few rounds of Koelsch?
The stories he would tell! |

That's 85 mph. I think that's about right for a factory quoted top speed. Here in the USA our catalyzed 2.1s had a top speed quoted at 88 mph for the 4 speed manual and 85 mph for the automatic.
But now that you mention it, I do remember seeing the top speed of a 5 speed wasserboxer van being more like 150 kph (94 mph). Maybe that was for the 112hp non-cat version.

Gorgeous. I love the grilles painted to match. I wish I had a van this pristine, but i'd probably be afraid to use it. I have no such reservations with mine! |

I have those exact Projekt Zwo painted lights, in very very good condition. I just need black ones for my rig. If you have this color van you should gimme a PM. I hate to just paint them (black)...
In other news, I am also wondering what is mounted to the dash... |

the dASH is stock, I think you see stuff on the wall beyond. I was locked up, unlike all the new cars cept that french built thing with 10 radiators, so I couldn't any interior pics sorry.
Pics of a caddy and T5 that we cant have, but that would be cruel to post those.
edit: OOPS ya I see it, looks like a retro SLR case or a small CRT monitor. A little like meeting a supermodel, you lose the ability to speak or think straight . . . |

Beautiful van!

Ditto! It took great restraint to not get my screwdriver out at SyncroFest. 8-[ Every time I turn around I'm seeing a van with those lights on it. :( |

You folks do realize that we're all freaks. Anyone who looks at that and thinks it's beautiful needs to have their head examined*.

That is a poor restored model in my opinion:they didn't put the sliding windows
The Projektzwo fog lights:the front left one is not adjusted properly,it's crooked, there is a gap.
They should get rid of it,and sell it to me for a fair price, since the headlight grill has been painted :x
Why is it so shiny and attractive     |

On the same trip we had a new Ford Fiesta. I really had to push it to get over 180km/h. |
