View original topic: Painting Stock Rims - Suggestions?

I'm restoring the stock rims for my 70 Notch. I've already sandblasted, primered, and painted the backs and sides semi-gloss black. I was planning on painting front metallic silver like original, but I want to entertain the idea of painting them a different color or even two-tone? My car is pastel white with a bright red interior. Any suggestions?

I think any two-tone look better than any single color wheels. These came on my '69 and look like OG paint wheels. Maybe they are OG Beetle wheels?

P.S. ET41 I have a theory that VW put these on Type 3 from the factory.

I agree, I have some new powders for powder coating my spare pair of wheels. They will have much more bling in the red.

if they were beetle wheels, wouldn't you be able to tell by the offset?

I was in your same situation with my 71 and ended up getting them powdercoated in the stock silver color and then found some original trim rings so you don't really see the rim after all
