I have a question about the Bugpack #5575-21-BL "Urethane Tie Rod Boots" that we want to use on our 68 stock Bug that is getting lowered...
The problem is the Bugpack "Urethane Tie Rod Boots" do not fit our early '68 Beetle tie rod ends - the Bugpack urethane boots are too small in diameter to fit over our original factory tie rod ends. The Bugpack boots have a diameter of 30.5 mm and the OEM boots have a 39.5 mm diameter.
We decided to buy the Bugpack/Prothane"Urethane Suspension Kit" for Standard 66 - 72 Bugs that includes the 5575-21-BL "Urethane Tie Rod Boots" because we want to redo all the rubber on our suspension since the front beam is being replace with a 4" narrowed one.
Even though we have a Late Model Bug, Bugpack/Prothane does not disclose their #5575-21-BL "Urethane Tie Rod Boots" are either made for later date Bug tie rod ends, or made specifically for Bugpack tie rod ends, or that I may have to really stretch and risk tearing these boots to fit our larger diameter tie rod ends.
Does anyone know if the #5575-21-BL "Urethane Tie Rod Boots" can be stretched to fit our '68 larger tie rod ends or am I spinning my wheels and should get different tie rod boots elsewhere?

When I removed the tie rod ends, I had difficulty with the left side upper tie rod end and I tore the original boot.
I did not buy the Bugpack/Prothane 66-72 Standard Bug "Urethane Suspension Kit" solely because of the #5575-21-BL "Urethane Tie Rod Boots", it was included in the Urethane Suspension Kit and I thought I could use it as a bonus.
