Hello,
My bug has been sitting for awhile now and I'd like to finally drive her. I need a new fan shroud, want to stay as stock as possible. This is my engine, Is it a dog house fan shroud?

Secondly, I run a 009 distributor with a 39 pict carb. I hear this is bad, What should I run to get a solid daily driver?
Thanks |

Looks like a dog house. Look in front of the shroud on the left side for a little housing. If it has this, it is a dog house shroud. Question: why do you need a new one? If it's the color that bothers you, take it off, clean it up and paint it. |

Look at the other side of the shroud to see for sure.
If it's doghouse, it'll have a bump like in this picture:

There are shims behind (or infront) of the fan that will space it from hitting the shroud. Need 36MM socket to remove nit and fan. Check that fan is not cracked near the hub. Nothing wrong with shroud you have --- that satin black paint won't cure! |

Hello,
I had a bug guy put my fan on my my gen, with the shims. The fan does not hit the fan shroud when I bolt it on, but when I have her in the generator hold and tighten down the gen strap, thats when it hits. Any clue? |

Try adjusting those bolts that attach the fan to the fan shroud, in "front" of the alternator. I had to adjust the 4 bolts on the back of the fan shroud to get the fan to completely stop rubbing. |
